Sentosa Island

Sentosa is Singapore's premier island resort getaway with multi-faceted appeal, teeming with events all year round. Just 15 minutes from the city, it is a unique blend of leisure and recreational facilities including family attractions, sea sports, golf as well as hotel accommodation and retreats. .

Sentosa has a 3.2-kilometre stretch of white sand beach, and is the only location in Singapore to offer beachfront accommodation and over 670 hotel rooms with full facilities. Accessed by cable car, bus, taxi or car, the island is open for 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Offering a variety of experiences for all ages, Sentosa is a must-visit destination for tourists and a popular recreational playground for local residents.

Getting to Sentosa

1) By Sentosa Express:
Operational by end of 2006, Sentosa Express will link Sentosa Island to the North-East Line at HarbourFront MRT station.

2) By Car:
S$2 per car per entry; island admission applies for all persons onboard at S$2 per person. Parking is at designated carparks on the island.

3) By Taxi:
Island admission applies for passenger(s) in taxi. Just inform the friendly taxi driver that you are visiting Sentosa. You will only need to pay what is reflected on the meter.

4) By MRT:
Take the North-East Line and alight at the HarbourFront MRT Station. From there, follow the signs to the HarbourFront Bus interchange. Hop onto the orange Sentosa bus and you'll be on your way to Sentosa. Train fares vary.

5) By Public Bus:
Take a bus and alight along Telok Blangah Road. Make your way to the HarbourFront Bus interchange and hop onto the orange Sentosa bus. You may seek assistance from the friendly bus captain to find out where to alight.

6) By Cable Car:
S$9.90/ Adult, S$4.50/ Child for a one-way trip from HarbourFront Tower 2 S$10.90 / Adult & S$5.50 / Child for a return trip.

What to see on Sentosa

There are plenty of things to see and do on Sentosa. Below is list of selected locations that are a must-see for everyone visiting Sentosa.

Beaches

1) Palawan Beach, where a suspension bridge links beach-goers to the Southernmost Point of Continental Asia, or Asia's closest point to the Equator, boasts beach bars where you can chill out while staying in touch with the rest of the world through wireless internet access. Or check out the other interesting shops and eateries available at this stretch.

2) Siloso Beach is the home of beach volleyball enthusiasts. The stretch of beach also boasts of dining and shopping outlets, and for those who like their day at the beach more vigorous, engage yourself in other outdoor activities such as canoeing, skim boarding, mountain biking or rollerblading.

3) Tanjong Beach is a favourite with guests who treasure its tranquility and solitude. Here, armed with your favourite book, you can while away the hours with the sun and a gentle breeze for company. This stretch of beach gets especially romantic by night, with the twinkling lights of ships docked at the nearby port.

Magical Sentosa

Also called as Musical fountain, this is a phenomenal show of sound, light, laser, flames and water jet.

Cinemania

For a ride that will leave you on the edge of your seat, heart racing at breakneck speed, there's only one place to head: Cinemania on Sentosa. Built at a cost of S$2.4 million, this dynamic simulation theatre is equipped with the latest projection systems and computer-synchronised motion seats that will transport you to adrenaline-pumping heights and depths, all from the safety of your seat.

Underwater World

The Underwater World oceanarium on Sentosa is home to more than 2,500 fishes from 250 different species. Venture into the ocean depths via a moving travellator that ferries you through an 83-metre-long acrylic tunnel. All around you, sharks, stingrays, eels and schools of fish glide past – engrossed in their own world. For those who don't mind getting wet, interactive programmes such as 'Dive with the Sharks' or 'Dive with the Dugong' are available upon advance booking.

Dolphin Lagoon

Included in your Underwater World ticket price is a visit to the Dolphin Lagoon. You'll get to observe the highly intelligent Indo-Pacific Humpback Dolphins through a series of interactive, feeding and training sessions specially designed to demonstrate their natural ability of tail-walking synchronization.

Sentosa 4D Magix

For a mind-blowing interactive experience, nothing beats Sentosa 4D Magix! Built at a cost of S$3.5 million, this state-of-the-art theatre offers you a whole new generation of movie magic. Through the synchronisation of a full spectrum of visual effects, surround sound, indivudually-controlled motion seats and special "live" environmental effects such as water spray, all your senses will be fully engaged like never before.
